be a leader

Kim Reynolds is an entrepreneur and a leader and is showing us how to have a big impact in our own communities.

There is a lot to admire about Kim. She is a kind, considerate, community-minded person who is the first to pitch in when help is needed. Enthusiastic and energetic, she is an accomplished athlete and outdoors woman. She has climbed some mighty high mountains and swum some of the most beautiful waters in the world (most recently in Indonesia!) She is all about lifting up others. Literally. In 1999, Kim founded Chicks with Picks to welcome and encourage women to join the ice climbing community. She also founded Mind Over Mountains to help women evolve, grow and become high-performance leaders.

She is leading once again in a quiet but impactful way. This past holiday, Kim emailed me to say she had just had a brilliant idea! She was going to give the gift of Rapt to her whole family for Christmas. Embracing the idea of low waste giving, Kim was going to make the investment in Rapt sets and have them pay dividends. Her plan was for the whole family to use Rapt for all their gift exchanges throughout the year. Yes, they would give it away, but they would also get it back. “Boomerang giving” at its best! Kim came up with a list for all her family members, giving smaller sets (Ensembles) to the young adults and larger ones (Starters and Family Sets) to relatives with growing families. We worked together on the order, as Kim wanted some of the Rapt sets wrapped - or “all rapt up,” as we like to say!

We were very touched by the idea, and naturally, wanted to share the story. In life, Kim has led the way both literally and metaphorically. By her adoption of a new way of doing things - of wrapping with Rapt - she is changing a habit of hers and that of her extended family. And speaking of family, Kim is part of mine. She and my brother Peter were married a few years ago, and she is part of the growing O’Neil clan. I’m so glad to call her family and also part of the Rapt family now. Welcome to the fold, Kim!
