flight time

For a long time, the American Express tagline was “Don’t leave home without it.” It’s always a good idea to bring a credit card when you travel (whether Amex or another card) but we’d like to revise the tagline for a bit of travel advice.

  1. Food, don’t leave home without it.
Save money and time and always travel with food. Now more than ever, airports have a large selection of food offerings, but it adds up in terms of money, time and space in your carry on.  On board, the choices are limited. On a recent flight, the choice was chocolate or pretzels, not the healthiest of snacks. Plan ahead and bring a few things to eat. Having said that, for the sake of your seatmates, perhaps forego the fragrant food. I once sat next to someone who brought a very large pastrami sandwich smothered in mustard, sauerkraut, onions and peppers. Not the most considerate of foods, but he seemed happy. Lol. Also, remember to bring your refillable water bottle and save money and plastic. Most airports have refilling stations for water.

  2. These shoes were meant for runnin’
Wear shoes you can run in. You never know when you will have to run an airport mile in under 10 minutes. For that unfortunate day when you inadvertently leave your bag at security and don’t realize it until your flight is called, wear shoes that enable you to run the length of, let’s say, the Denver airport - including getting on the tram back to security - don’t get caught in heels. Wedges do not make a good running shoe. Trust me. I’ve learned the hard way. PS I did make the flight. But barely!!
