Life's a gift.
… that’s why we call it the present. Put a bow on it!
We always get a chuckle when we hear about “National Days.” Did you know there was a National Mustard Day? We didn’t either; It’s the first Saturday of August. Naturally. And August 19th was International Bow Day - it’s gone worldwide!! We’re sorry to have missed it. A belated Happy International Bow Day to all those who celebrated.
In honor of the “holiday,” though we are two months late in celebrating, we decided to lean in and take the opportunity to tell you about our Rapt bows - or accents, as we like to call them. When we started Rapt we made sheets of fabric to replace single-use wrapping paper that is thrown away. We made sheets in four sizes and most often tied the fabric in a knot at the top of the present. Or we twisted the ends and then tucked them in to form a rose. We loved the way it looked, but with some gifts we felt that it needed a little something extra. Plus, people were used to putting bows on top of presents.
We had a lot of remnant fabric as well as ribbon left over from Cindy’s children’s clothing line, Seam, so Cindy set to work designing bows that would work with various sizes and that would stay in place without the need for tape, pins or glue. We bought beautiful ribbon made in Italy from Angela Liguori, a local entrepreneur and founder of Studio Carta Shop here in Massachusetts. Once several designs were set, we found a women’s sewing cooperative in New York to make them for us. We included accents in all our sets.
Additionally, Cindy designed a large flower bow to go on bigger gifts. We call them our “Statement Flowers” and Cindy makes those herself here in Belmont. These you can buy separately on our site.
We think all our bows and accents add a certain je ne sais quoi to your gifts. Check them out. From ribbon to reuse - gifts Rapt right!
