Happy October!
A new month always feels like a new start. Do you start the month by saying “rabbit, rabbit, rabbit” to yourself? Or text “bunny, bunny, bunny” to your children or siblings trying to be the first one to remember it’s the first of the month? However you mark it, a new month always feels like a fresh start.
It’s the beginning of autumn here in New England. The school year is well under way and the fall holidays are just around the corner: Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Halloween, Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving.
October is also the beginning of the fourth quarter, our busiest time here at Rapt. That’s because most people buy gift wrap now. So, in addition to reminding you to get your gift wrap early and check that off your list, we want to remind you that you have a whole three months left in the year. That means it’s not too late to revisit your New Year’s resolutions!
According to Brad Zomick who wrote an article called “Top 10 New Year's Resolutions (and How to Follow Through!) for GoSkills, the top two resolutions were:
Exercise more
Lose weight
Do those resonate with you or someone you love? If so, you might consider a third resolution which is:
Sleep more
Along with exercise and diet, sleep is one of the three pillars of health, but fatigue can lead to lack of exercise and an increased appetite - especially for junk food. If you’d like to improve your diet or exercise habits, changing your sleep habits may help.
We have some ideas for you on that front. They can also serve as gift ideas for someone you love - or for yourself. Naturally, you should wrap them with Rapt!
How about a book about sleep? Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker is for anyone interested in learning more about sleep and the science behind it. I happened to have the book at a recent Rapt pop-up and was using it to demonstrate the ease of wrapping with fabric, when a gentleman ran over to our table to tell us that the book had changed his life! It’s definitely changed my sleep habits for sure. I found it very interesting and think you might, too. Find it at your local bookstore
Another gift for improving sleep and getting more zzz’s is the Oura Ring. Talk to anyone who has it, and they will tell you it has helped them develop better sleep habits. It is sized to fit you and comes in several different finishes. It’s a bit costly, but a good night’s sleep is priceless.
For a lovely night’s sleep you could also invest in some good linens - or just get a single pillowcase. We like the Blissy luxurious soft silk pillowcase. It comes in lots of pretty colors.
Sleep tight!
